The HX Series is engineered to meet the challenges of power generation, transmission, and distribution, offering standout features like power supply redundancy, CPU redundancy within a single rack, DNP3 and IEC 61850 (MMS and GOOSE) protocols, and compliance with ONS submodule 2.7.

With a modular architecture, HX RTUs provide a wide variety of input and output modules that, paired with a powerful 32-bit CPU and high-speed deterministic Ethernet bus, meet the demands of diverse applications. A CPU built for high-speed applications

The HX Series uses a 32-bit PowerPC CPU, providing fast data processing and communication, tailored to meet the needs of the most advanced protocols in the industry. Integrated functions like online programming, large memory capacity, and dual serial channels come standard. The CPU also includes six Ethernet ports, a memory card slot, and program update capabilities.

These Ethernet ports support programming and integration with IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3, MODBUS TCP, OPC DA, and an embedded web server. A memory card slot allows for source code storage and program updates, further enhancing the CPU’s capabilities.

With rugged, long-lasting hardware, HX products can be installed in environments subject to mechanical vibrations and extended temperature ranges. They are well-suited for power plants, substations, or installations near high-power electrical devices, meeting stringent requirements for immunity to electrostatic discharge and electromagnetic interference, which are common in such environments.

The HX RTU’s reliability makes it ideal for a wide range of architectures, from simple systems to large, complex projects where high availability is critical. Additionally, the series supports hot-swapping, allowing module replacements without shutting down the system—an essential feature for applications that cannot afford interruptions.

Comprehensive communication modules and expansion options

The HX Series offers a flexible architecture, allowing the development of custom applications to meet specific business needs, regardless of scale. With support for I/O module expansion, the series can accommodate up to 8 remote racks, with a single CPU capable of managing up to 2048 points.

High point density and a built-in graphic display allow users to monitor the status of each I/O for local diagnostics. Diagnostic information for any module in the system can be accessed directly from the graphic display with a simple press of the One Touch Diag button. This information is also available through network protocols or via the MasterTool Xtorm configuration tool.

Another standout feature is the easy installation and removal of terminal blocks, thanks to a spring-loaded system for connecting field wiring.

MasterTool Xtorm is a powerful tool for configuring, programming, debugging, and simulating user applications. Based on CODESYS technology, it simplifies the import of data from spreadsheets for module parameterization or variable mapping with the communication protocols available on the HX CPU.
