DCS Modernization
Altus was selected to retrofit the Digital Supervision and Control System at the Nilo Peçanha Hydroelectric Plant.
Reduction in space and wiring, resulting in increased reliability, cost savings, and enhanced supervision and control capabilities
Boosted operational efficiency across the entire system, lowering costs and improving response times
A robust communication system with enhanced diagnostics. An open, easy-to-maintain supervisory system
Minimized downtime through fast fault detection and identification
A typical UAC architecture features a main rack with 18 HX9103 modules, 2 redundant HX8320 power supplies (125VDC), and 2 redundant HX3040 processors communicating via DNP3 Ethernet protocol. It also includes 12 digital input cards (125VDC) with 32 inputs each, and 2 HX9102 side covers. The second rack, also an HX9103 model, includes 2 HX8320 power supplies, which connect to other racks via 2 NX9205 cables, 3 HX1120 cards, 4 HX2320 digital output cards (125VDC) with 16 outputs each, and 7 HX6000 analog cards configurable for current or voltage input, with 16 inputs each, plus 2 HX9102 side covers. The third 9-slot HX9101 rack includes two HX8320 power supplies connected via 2 NX9205 cables, 6 HX6020 RTD input modules with 8 inputs each, and 1 HX9102 side cover. Each HX3040 CPU connects to its respective RS900 switch via an Ethernet port. These CPUs receive IRIG-B synchronization through an optical-to-electrical IRIG-B signal converter (RT-412) from Reason. The CPUs also receive MODBUS-RTU signals from the electrical measurement meters. The speed and voltage regulators are each connected to a switch on the panel.
The topology incorporates a dual redundant ring network to maximize availability. Special switches with dual optical ports interconnect the rings, ensuring that the plant continues operating through the redundant ring in the event of a failure on one side
- Event logging with 1ms precision for all digital input points - Event logging with 100ms precision for all analog input points - A dual redundant optical ring network for enhanced security and improved communication between UAs (Autonomous Units) and the supervisory system - Redundant servers for the supervisory system - Redundant database system - Satellite (GPS) synchronization of UAs - Provision of data and event information to ONS - Oscillography and monitoring system - Redundant protection relays
- Troca dos CLP’s SAITEL 2000 atuais das UAC s UG11, UG12, UG13, UG14, UG15, UG16, SE e SA pelas UTR’s da Série HX instaladas em placa de montagem, sendo transferida todas as lógicas atualmente existentes para o novo controlador - Provision of a complete SCADA Supervisory System (including screens, commands, reports, and alarm/event center) - Provision of switches for the dual optical ring network - Provision of 1 synchronizing relay for the two existing lines in the substation (which operates with a single bus bar) - Provision of 2 19-inch rack-mount servers
- Development of Executive and Software projects - Integration with the existing water intake UAC via single-mode fiber optic connection, with at least one spare pair, integrated through IEC 104 protocol - Factory Acceptance Testing and Field Commissioning of the supplied system - Maintenance and Operation Training - Documentation, including updates to the plant’s documentation impacted by the new system implementation
