Modernizing the Control and Supervision System

Altus technology was chosen by one of the world’s top automotive manufacturers to upgrade the control system, aiming to optimize water reuse at one of its production plants.

Sustainable and High-Availability Control System

The plant, which produces inorganic pigments for the automotive industry and for drinking water purification, needed upgrades to its supervisory and automation systems. The solution required a system to control the water recirculation pumps throughout the factory.

Para este projeto, uma solução completa com produtos da Altus foi desenvolvida. Além de CPUs NX3030 para manutenção e supervisão, dezenas de inversores de frequência também foram utilizados. Os CLPs da Série NX são responsáveis por gerenciar mais de 1.000 pontos de comunicação com supervisório e por controlar mais de 300 pontos de E/S dos inversores. A alta velocidade de processamento dos dados e de comunicação dos controladores permitiu uma rápida atualização das variáveis de tempo real no sistema supervisório, minimizando o tempo de reação do sistema a comandos e transmitindo maior segurança aos operadores.

Simple and Efficient Programming with Nexto PLCs

To meet the demands of this project, Nexto programmable controllers were recommended. With high-speed processors and no moving parts, the products offer greater reliability and extended uptime.

Their multiprocessing capabilities bring features typically found in DCS systems. The NX Series PLCs support both graphical and textual programming languages in compliance with the IEC 61131-3 standard. One standout feature is the graphical FBD (Function Block Diagram) language, which enables the system to be broken down into functional blocks, making maintenance easier and allowing for the use of different programming languages within each block, enhancing programming flexibility.

Another key advantage was the use of pre-built libraries in the MasterTool IEC XE software, which significantly reduced development time. In addition, communication via PROFIBUS-DP, a common feature in these applications, allowed for seamless integration with devices from multiple manufacturers.
