Bundle Tying System

Altus provided the control and supervision technology for the system responsible for tying and weighing the rebar bundles produced in the rolling mill cages.

Gerdau Aço Norte Bundle Tying System

This system leverages Altus PLC technology to manage the entire tying process. It includes chain conveyors that move cold-cut bundles to an elevator, which lifts a predetermined number of rebars to the tying and strapping station.

At this point, the twisters are strategically positioned, and with the operator's command, they twist a special wire around the bundles, forming a looped knot that’s essential for loading the final product. The number of twists is set through an HMI provided by Altus.

Once all the twisters have secured the bundle, the elevator automatically lowers it onto another chain conveyor, where an overhead crane picks up a predefined number of bundles for storage or loading onto trucks.
